Gavin started his career racing 2-stroke Formula TKM as part of MBKC, securing three podiums in his first three races and won the Novice Gold Cup.

In 2014 he switched to the Classic Stock Hatch Championship driving a Ford XR2 as part of Skywheels Racing, scoring his best finish of the year at Cadwell Park. After driving two different XR2's in the early part of the following year he switched to the Peugeot 205 GTi towards the end of the 2015 season before planning a switch back to rear wheel drive machinery.

In 2016 Gavin debuted in the Toyo Tires BRSCC Porsche Championship, scoring 2 podium finishes. He also began work as an instructor.

Gavin made a major step in his driving in 2017 and scored 4 podiums in the first 5 races to lead the championship early on. The podium finishes kept rolling in, and he finally broke through to win in round 7 at Rockingham. And with some style, having taken the pole position and track record along the way.   2017 he finished 2nd in the championship with 14 podiums and 1 win and 1 lap record from 22 races.

In 2017 Gavin showed an improvement in his technical knowledge, allowing him to make better judgement calls on any problems or maintenance required to keep the car performing at its best. As impressive as the gains in speed was his consistency. Gavin finished all but one race in 2017, driving smarter as well as faster, and began showing the aggression he’d need to build on his championship runner-up position and go one better in 2018.

For 2018 Gavin returned to the BRSCC Toyo Tires Championship with one aim, to win the championship. He secured his first title with 14 race wins and 4 lap records. A particular highlight was a “perfect weekend” at Anglesey with Pole, 3 x race wins in 3 different types of weather conditions, fastest lap in all 3 races and a new Lap Record.

For 2019 Gavin teammate Pip Hammond shared a drive in the 750MC Club Enduro Championship combining this with instructing duties for Porsche Chester & MSV at Oulton Park. A tough start and a mid season car change were all good lessons as they secured 2nd in class with 4 x 2nd places in the last 4 races.

2020 saw Gavin debut the teams new Porsche e924 with the Historic Sports Car Club to take on events such as the Brands Hatch Superprix and Oultton Park Gold Cup. The new cars initial teething problems stopped a championship challenge but a credible 4th position come the end of the season and being well under the lap record at Silverstone signalled intent for 2021.
