Driver Season Reviews - Part 2: more one-offs!

Another of the returning 750MC - Classic Stock Hatch Championship roster for 2019 was Imran Khan. The multiple race winner had been out of the championship since 2014 but had continued to compete part seasons in other series. Khan was brought in to run the team’s newest-build Nova, in addition to his campaign in Club Enduro.
A far cry from the rear wheel drive cars he has been running since 2015, Khan came in untested for qualifying and was a little disappointed to start just outside the top 10 in a very competitive entry, the Nova proving tricky to adapt to. Nevertheless Khan surged forward in the races, bagging a pair of top 10 finishes with 8th and 9th, and was among the 5 fastest cars in each race as he found the pace over the weekend.
Having originally been tabbed for multiple events, as he and teammate Andrew Lightstead emerged as title contenders in Club Enduro Khan rightly chose to focus on that, meaning Cadwell Park was his only event this year in PDC colours. He ended the season as Class C champion in Club Enduro.

September’s Donington round saw the return of another former race winner, Paul Thorpe. After his full-time driving stretch ended with an accident in 2013, Thorpe remained active in the paddock with occasional drives in Richard Herbert’s Fiesta up to 2016, and latterly as a drivers rep and commentator. Keen to prove the competitive fires were still burning, Thorpe jumped at the chance to compete at Donington and turned in a stellar performance to secure 5th place and the ‘Driver of the Day’ award in race 1, backing it up with 9th in race 2 after a race long battle with PDC team mates Martin and Jason.

As well as his races with the team, Paul became part of the PDC Racing pitctew for the Club Enduro campaign as a refueller.
